Theory in Practice Conference 2027:

BRIDGING SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
ACROSS BUSINESS, SOCIETY, AND TECHNOLOGY

Call for extended Abstracts

The international Theory in Practice Conference 2027 warmly welcomes experienced researchers, early-stage scientists, teachers, practitioners, alumni, students studying in higher education institutions and business professionals to discuss current challenges, share insights, and build connections between research and practice.

The 2027 conference theme, Bridging Sustainability and Responsibility Across Business, Society, and Technology, provides a platform to participants to explore how sustainability and responsibility can guide understanding, decision making, policy framework, and collaboration in the context of technological development.

The submissions are invited under two categories:

  • Peer-reviewed articles encompassing theoretical, analytical and empirical perspectives.
  • Expert articles, including case studies, practice-based articles, and development projects.

Authors are encouraged to submit their latest research, case studies, and technological advancements aligned with the conference theme and topics.

We welcome submissions for extended abstracts for expert articles from both researchers and practitioners who wish to share deeper practical insights, lessons learned, and evidence of impact.

  • The maximum limit (excluding references), 700 words
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified, line spacing at least 18, paragraph spacing before 6 pt after 0 pt

EXTENDED ABSTRACT (Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold, uppercase)

CONTENT

  • Background/Motivation – What is the background of the research topic? What is interesting/relevant about the research topic? What are the personal and professional factors of research motivation
  • Purpose – What is the purpose of the study? What does the study intend to demonstrate or describe in the wake of extant literature? This section contains key research objectives, contexts, and their relevance. This section sets the tone of the manuscript.
  • Theoretical framework – This section should focus on core theoretical/conceptual underpinnings, their interconnectedness in the form of comparison, positioning, contextualizing and drawing main inferences from the extant literature.
  • Design/methodology/approach – Description of data, research approach/philosophy, sample characteristics, description of variables, analytical models/tools.
  • Findings & Conclusions – What are the main results? What are the conclusions from the results?
  • Research, practical & social implications – Does the study have theoretical implications and limitations? What are the practical implications? What are the possible social impacts
  • Originality/value – What are the study’s main contributions? Contributions to the advancement of research.
  • Keywords – Authors should provide appropriate and short keywords that encapsulate the principal topics of the paper. The maximum number of keywords is 5.

Submissions

We kindly request authors to submit their extended abstracts by 10 January 2027. The abstracts should be submitted by email to Dr. Shab Hundal, Conference Chair: shabnamjit.hundal@jamk.fi. Please use TiP2027 extended abstract in the subject line of your email.

The presenters will receive feedback and suggestions at the conference. Subject to the quality of work and other publication protocols, the presenters will be invited to publish their Extended Abstracts in the conference proceedings. The selected Extended Abstracts, which are complete/nearly complete and have significant publication potential, will also be published in the Finnish Business Review journal.
